Journal Entry 43: Elements of Poetry

Poetry is a kind of writing. But to me, poetry is very different from other forms of writing. And since poetry is very different from other forms of writing, the elements of poetry is also very different from other forms of writing. Some elements of poetry that are very different and unique from other forms of writings are rhythm, stanza, meter, and rhymes. These elements are what make poetry so special and different from other forms of writings. Poetry uses stanza instead of paragraphs and they have a rhythm in it. And the rhymes in the poetry make the rhythm. But there are still some elements of poetry similar or the same as other forms of writings. For one example, all forms of writing have imagery. Imagery is when you describe and picture something in the audience's mind. Poetry uses imagery a lot. Another element that is shared between poetry and other forms of writing is plot. It is obvious that every fiction has a plot. But I believe that poetry also has plot. Even if a poem is just describing an animal, there is a plot about the animal's action and everything. And also like a fiction, poetry has setting too. Sometimes poets write it really obvious in poems bt sometimes they are not that obvious, but there is always setting for poetry.
